It was a unique combination of professional and personal experiences that led John Kennedy to launch JK Daily Money Management in 2016.

Professional Background

John had a successful 25 plus year career in the financial services industry with much of that time spent focused on serving the individual investor. In his most recent role as a Director at Citigroup, John managed the Retail MBS Trading desk which assisted the firm’s individual investor clients in achieving their investment goals.

John was also a successful small-business owner. He and his wife owned and operated a Papyrus store in NYC which achieved #1 ranking in annual sales among franchise stores nationwide. He managed all financial aspects of the business, including start-up operations, accounts payable/accounts receivable, inventory, purchasing, and more.

Personal Motivation

Several years ago, John and his siblings found themselves facing the challenge of caring for their own, aging father. For John, the emotional complexities of caring for a parent in decline were very difficult – a situation that many of his generation may soon face, if they are not already. John’s strong sense of loyalty and empathy, combined with the organizational skills and attention to detail acquired over his career, enabled him to manage his father’s affairs and keep his finances in order.

“I was one of the sandwich generation: an adult caring for an aging parent while also raising my own family. While I have three siblings who helped share the tasks, there are probably many people just like me, but without any other family members to lean on. And what about the seniors who have no children?” JK

The stunning realization that many families will not possess the support system that his family was fortunate enough to have in place, led John to launch JK Daily Money Management.

John, armed with his strong financial background and personal family experience, now helps others develop and implement solutions to streamline and maintain their own financial life.

From paying bills to navigating the maze of medical insurance, John has become a trusted resource for the elderly, their families and busy professionals alike.

On a personal note, John lives in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan with his wife and nine-year-old daughter. When not busy helping his clients, he enjoys spending time with his family, cycling, and coaching his daughter’s softball team.

Volunteer Activities

  • NYC DFTA Bill Payer Program which helps disabled and elderly individuals who are unable to manage their day-to-day financial tasks.

“The idea behind the Bill Payer Program is for these individuals to be able to stay in their home and live as independently as possible. To me, that’s great because I think every senior would love to be able to remain in their own home as long as possible.” JK

  • NYC DFTA Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance Program (HIICAP) which provides counseling and responds to seniors’ questions on Medicare, Medicaid and prescription drugs.

“Healthcare and its related costs are fast becoming the #1 issue facing seniors. This program helps them to understand the various government insurance programs available so that they can make an informed choice for their coverage.” JK
